My ancestors came from Siberia, where traditional medicine is highly developed. I inherited my herbal knowledge and skills from my mother, grand mother and great grandmother. Also I studied medicinal herbs in Russian Medical University. In contrast to Australia, there is no define line between traditional and conventional Medicine in Russia. Herbal therapy complements conventional medicine and Russian doctors are allowed to prescribe herbs along with conventional drugs in order to reduce the amount of antibiotics and prevent side effects. We have learned that the immune system is very fragile. It may be suppressed by antibiotics within a few days and will take months to restore. So, according to Russian Medical School, conventional medicine should be minimised by combining drugs, herbs, and physiotherapy.
I completed Medical University in 1992, and worked for 3 years in heart attack intensive care unit as a doctor cardiologist. From my first year of University, and throughout my medical practice, I have always been involved in research. Fighting for human lives in my day to day intensive care work, I wondered why the number of heart attacks is increasing. Why is Health generally deteriorating from generation to generation, and how can we prevent this and improve our health?

In 1995 I started my Managerial career, and became a part of a creative team and a pioneer in the introduction of essential oils in Russia, focusing on the Russian rehabilitation centers and physiotherapy. Why did we decide to go from herbs to essential oils? Because essential oils are more convenient, easier and safer to use. In contrast to herbs, essential oils are compact, have longer shelf life, and there is no need to brew the herbs every morning in the physiotherapy department.
When we started introducing essential oils in Russia, we focused on them as a prevention of the flu, treatment of fungal infections and stress alleviation. I was responsible for the Southern Russia Market and took an approach of Market entry in conjunction with public education and research. We donated aroma-medallions and essential oils to several primary schools. Kids wore the aroma- medallions with eucalyptus, niaouli, tea tree, and lavender oils during flu epidemics. The number of sick children in these schools was much less compared to other schools that didn't take these preventive measures. Then, we investigated the use of Australian Tea Tree oil for the treatment of fungal infection in the gynecological department. Our research showed that Tea Tree oil is very effective against fungal infections and is better than antibiotics in terms of side effects (disbacteriosis/ vaginal thrush). Also, we offered essential oils to a few rehabilitation centers to be used for alleviating stress, and hence the prevention of hypertension and heart attack. Stress is considered to be a major cause of high blood pressure and heart attack in Russia.
As the pioneers, the major problem we experienced was that at the time there was a lack of information about essential oils. This persuaded me to extend my qualifications and obtain manufacturing experience in UK, travel and share knowledge and skills with the researches and manufacturers from different countries - UK, France,Egypt, South America, etc.
In the year 2000 I emigrated from Russia in order to fulfill my dream of researching Australian essential oils. Why Australian? Australian essential oils are different in the way that they have stronger antibacterial and anti-viral properties. This is thought to be because of the unique Australian soil and the intensity of the sun. It is thought that the plants accumulate more energy. My opinion is that Australian eucalyptus forests create an antibacterial essential oil shield in the air, protecting us from many air-transmitted sicknesses. The warm and wet climate is a perfect environment for multiplying bacteria, and there is no cold winter like in Russia to kill viruses and bacteria by frost. However in Australia we have essential oils in the air to kill bacteria.
Four years of researching Australian plants has given life to the Golden Collection of Australian Essential Oils.
With cosmetics, the goal was to create the skin care that contributes to the skin and overall body health. This is hypoallergenic skin care that will restore the skin and protect the body. I think that the skin should be considered as a subject of beauty and also the body's largest protective barrier. The skin is an important part of our immune system indeed. Healthy skin is naturally intended to look beautiful and radiant. The most important role of the skin is to constantly protect us from harmful elements and allergens in the external environment.
KEEPING OUR SKIN HEALTHY IS VERY IMPORTANT. DAMAGED SKIN BARRIER IS PROVEN TO BE THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF ATOPIC DERMATITIS AND ECZEMA, AND MAY BECOME A CAUSE OF OTHER ILLNESSES, LIKE ASTHMA. Due to the extensive use of commercial soaps, detergents, cleansers, cosmetics with artificial preservatives, dyes, fragrances, the dry indoor climate, poor diets, pollution, frequent showers (especially hot and not filtered tap water), the skin barrier is harmed repeatedly. There is an overwhelming amount of research to prove that the high frequency of allergic disease in the industrialized world might be due to lifestyle choices that result in loss of integrity of the skin barrier. For example Australian research, conducted by Dr John Su from the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne that was presented by the Eczema Association of Australasia. The research revealed that damage to the skin barrier allows harmful elements and allergens to penetrate into the subepidermal layer of the skin. The skin’s immune cells take up antigen and initiate typical Th2 immune responses, leading to atopy (dermatitis, eczema, asthma)." Unfortunately some artificial additives and preservatives are damaging the skin and body. The excellent shelf life and desirable texture of skin care with artificial preservatives and additives is a well known fact. However the negative effect of this beauty and comfort is often hidden and not stated clearly. Being broad spectrum antibacterial agents, artificial preservatives also kill the good bacteria that is a part of the skin's natural defence system. Another negative effect of artificial preservatives is that some artificial additives may penetrate through the skin into the body, slowly accumulate in different organs and contribute to ADD, cancer, brain damage, early dementia, etc. Our goal with cosmetics was to create a truly natural skin care without these side effects. The solution we found was to go back to traditions where people didn't know about artificial additives. We researched traditional skin care recipes and manufacturing techniques that have been used by our ancestors for centuries. Our recipes are based on traditions, scientific data about antibacterial and antioxidant properties of natural ingredients, and medical knowledge of the immune system and the skin. These recipes are also designed to meet the Market demand in treating different skin types and skin conditions.
Most of cosmetic chemists would say that it is impossible to make cosmetics without artificial preservatives with long shelf life. This is not true. Our product line is real life proof that it is possible to design skin care with no artificial additives and a reasonably long shelf life. Fresh, high quality natural ingredients like Australian essential oils, honey, propolis, ocean salt and naturally occurring vitamin E work as natural preservatives in the skin care and at the same time add desirable antioxidant properties to the cosmetics. Removing water from all formulations and the developing of special manufacturing procedures are also key strategies to extend the shelf life of the products.
Austraroma cosmetics are freshly hand made from quality Australian ingredients in small batches and preserved naturally for up to 2 years. They are preserved through technological processes that allow the product to retain naturally occurring preservatives. Our cosmetics are mostly based on Australian macadamia oil, renowned for its non allergenic nature, unique skin compatibility and antioxidant properties. Macadamia oil is naturally rich in Palmitoleic acid which is a building material of healthy skin. Macadamia oil is rich in natural vitamin E which is an antioxidant that preserves cosmetics naturally and also it is a great vitamin for the skin.
I hope you enjoy our products and will discover their unique personality, delightful aroma, uncompromising freshness, and a great range of effective applications.
The last part of this page is designed to support my current application for Antarctica. Being a part of the Australian Antarctica team is the job of my dream, where I wish to implement my science and managerial knowledge and experience and contribute to Australian environmental research. I would like to assure our customers, clients and distributors that Austraroma business will be working as usual even if I will be working for the new field. The diplomas, references, and photos to support my application for the job in Antarctica are below. I. EDUCATION-QUALIFICATIONS:
