For those who do not like the medicinal smell of Eucalyptus Globulus, Eucalyptus Blue Mallee offers a delightful alternative. Another advantage is that it blends well with other Australian essential oils.
General recommendations for Use:
Massage, inhalation (direct inhalation and steam inhalation), oil burner, bath, skin care…
- Aroma massage: mix 4-6 drops with about 15 ml of carrier oil. Blending is recommended.
- Direct (cold) inhalation: Place 1-2 drops on Austraroma aromastone, aromamedallion, or your handkerchief.
- Facial Steam bath: pour 2-3 drops to hot water. Duration: 5-7 min. Avoid contact of steam with eyes.
- Oil burner: mix 4 – 6 drops of oil with water. Blending is recommended.
- Aroma Bath: blend 5 – 7 drops with about 10 ml of a neutral base, like bubble bath or shampoo. Then add to bath water.
Historical Data: Australia is home to over 600 eucalyptus species, where they constitute approximately 75% of its all tree floras. The eucalyptus oil industry in Australia reached its peak in the early post war years, in 1947. Australian eucalyptus oil was used to help control a meningitis outbreak and for the influenza of 1919.
Nowadays, only 5-10% of World eucalyptus oil is produced in Australia, positioned in the niche market of the highest quality eucalyptus oils for medicinal and aromatherapy purposes. The largest producer of eucalyptus oil is China. The active therapeutic and principal constituent of eucalyptus oils is 1, 8-cineol, which should not be any less than 70% according to BP (British Pharmacopoeia). In today’s modern world, many eucalyptus oils, sold as BP (medicinal) grade are blended and redistilled, most come from Chinese E. Globulus.
